Far too often do I get this statement from inquiring Denver breast augmentation patients “will I still be able to be as athletic after I have implants?” I’m surprised that so many women have been brain washed with the idea that once you have breast augmentation, your days at the gym and those long treacherous runs will be over because of the overwhelming size of your breasts.
Can you go too big? Absolutely! I think we have all learned this from our Beverly Hills plastic surgery patients, where the average implant is 600cc’s. This will absolutely inhibit your speed work on the track, or swimming in your Triathlon. But once again, as stated in many other plastic surgery blogs, as long as you go with a natural size, and one within your breast measurement range, you should have no problem crossing the finish line, and hopefully breaking the tape.

Bottom line, a great percentage of our patients are runners, fitness competitiors, and triathletes. They have all chosen a breast implant size that was right for them, and not one of them has come back stating they had to throw up the boxing gloves becasue their breast implants just kept getting in the way.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” It’s certainly true; what looks good to one person may not look good to another. That’s why it’s so incredibly important that the patient and the doctor be on the same page when deciding on a desired result for a Denver cosmetic surgery procedure.
At our practice, like in any good practice, we spend a lot of time educating the patients. A good example would be with breast implants. We want to make sure that the patient knows the pros and cons of different types of available breast implants, and what their result will simulate with that specific type. When patients come in, they may not know the difference between saline or gel implants. They may not know whether they want a high, a moderate plus or a moderate profile. But there are many implant options out there, and good plastic surgeons have a responsibility to teach the patient about all of them.
After consulting with your surgeon, make sure they offer a range of implant options to meet your goals. So often the surgeon will only recommend one style or size that they believe will look good. When we all have a different idea of what looks good, raise and eyebrow when only one option is presented to you. You and your surgeon may have very different ideas of what looks natural, and what is too big or too small.
Always make sure your Colorado plastic surgeon performs breast measurements during your consultation. This is the only accurate way they can guide you as to what size and style of implant your body can accommodate to help you reach YOUR desired result.
If you’re a patient, you need a lot of time to think over what result you want. And that’s not just for breast implants. Every cosmetic procedure represents a big decision, and your Denver plastic surgeon should be committed to walking you through it. You should never feel pressured to make a snap-decision about your own body. And the only opinion that really matters is your own.
It is for this reason that you should make sure that, regardless of what practice you go to or what procedure you intend to have, your doctor explains the options to you. If he pushes one option more strongly than the others, don’t be swayed until you feel you understand all the issues.

Recently reported on the Today Show was an interesting story about how Hollywood is making a move toward casting actors and actresses that look more natural. Hollywood’s view of beauty has significantly changed over the years from curvy to thin, and back again. Playboy put big breast implants on the map for a beauty essential, and botox has literally frozen the faces of many performers, making everyone look as if they we cut from the same mold. Eight years ago I selectecd Dr. Broadway as my plastic surgeon for breast augmentation. I loved Dr. Broadway and his staff, and of course the balanced, artistic, and beautiful results he offers his Denver Colorado plastic surgery patients. Today, I am Dr. Broadway’s patient coordinator and have been with his practice for over 6 years. I get to see and hear first hand, about the stunning results Dr. Broadway’s patients achieve after their surgery.
At the time of my surgery saline breast implants were my only option because the MemoryGel implants were not yet approved by the FDA. I had my saline implants for 8 years, they made it through pregnancy, nursing and intense training to get my pre baby body back. And although I loved my saline implants, I continuously heard other patients express how soft their gel implants were, and how natural they looked.
In November of 2009, I decided to remove and replace to the MemoryGel breast implants and could not be happier with my result. They feel softer and aesthetically are much prettier. I can’t express enough how easy the procedure was because my pocket was already created, and I feel more confident knowing that I won’t one day wake up with a deflated implant.

We receive many calls on daily basis from inquiring patients aksing the difference between saline breast implants and the Memory Gel high cohesive silicone gel breast implants. The final implant selection is a personal choice made by the patient, but one that can be easily made once the patient knows all of the facts. Listed below are some key differences in the implants that might help to make the choice a little easier for our Denver, Colorado breast augmentation patients.
Mentor Saline Implants
The saline breast implant is made of a silicone shell, and has been the only choice for women looking to have breast augmentation for a number of years. It is made of a silicone shell that comes to the surgeon empty. During surgery the surgeon will place the implant through the preferred incision site, and will be inflated with saline solution.
The pros of choosing a saline implant include: more incision site options, confirmed rip or tear because implant will deflate, lower in cost.
The cons for choosing a saline implant include: higher risk for a deflation requiring a second surgery, higher chance for rippling in very thin women, does not look or feel as natural, fewer profile options.
Memory Gel Breast Implants

The high cohesive silicone gel breast implant was approved by the FDA in 2006 for cosmetic purposes. This implant however has been around since 1993 but was only approved for reconstructive use. The silicone shell is made of three layers (the old silicone implant was made with one shell and the silicone substance was similar to the consistency of motor oil) and can be considered as a solid form. A patient would never know if they had a small rip or tear in this implant because it does not leak into the body and the likelihood of having to remove and replace due to a deflation is much lower than that of a saline implant.
The pros of choosing the high cohesive silicone gel breast implant include: look and feel more natural, lower chance of rippling, lower risk of developing a deflation, lifetime warranty, and more profile options allowing patient to tailor their result.
The cons of choosing the high cohesive silicone gel breast implant include: slightly more expensive, rountine MRI’s recommened by manufacturer, uncertainty of tear.
Dr. Broadway at bodevolve is the most experienced plastic surgeon in Colorado to implant the high cohesive silicone gel implants because he was selected in 2002 as a participant in a national study allowing him to implant gel implants 4 years prior to other cosmetic surgeons.

250 cc Moderate Plus Profile Memory Gel Breast Implants
When patients visit our office inquiring about Denver breast augmentation procedures, we are often told they want their result to look very natural and not like Pamela Anderson. A big misconception among both men and women is that if you have breast augmentation surgery, it means you will also have huge implants and very large breasts.
